Tide was going out. Pleased to see the Shelduck, and a swan performing an unconscious party trick. A nice little small tortoiseshell braving the wind but enjoying the sun.

Messing about on the river again

After a pretty dreadful and sad week family-wise I went for a walk along the Crouch from South Fambridge. It has been a lovely bright sunny day. I took a few photos, messing about with my “old” camera and just enjoyed the tranquillity.

River walk along the Crouch at Hullbridge

A lovely sunny and ridiculously hot day today. I took my cameras out to the river and these photos were taken with my small digital camera. I saw a grey heron and some little egrets as well as shelduck and may have some decent photos on film (remember that?), but I will have to wait for processing. Otherwise you may just spot them here looking rather fuzzy.

It was an hour after low tide when I started, so the tide was coming in towards the end of my walk.

Fire down below

The flat downstairs from a rental flat we own has effectively been destroyed by fire. Cosmetically our flat is not badly damaged but we need to assess what unseen structural damage there is.

The downstairs tenant caused the fire with a candle / lantern in the hall and she has lost most of her furniture and goodness knows what else as well as a place to live. A lot of it is bagged up for rubbish collection.

The photos are of the burned flat, not ours. It is just shocking what damage can be done in a short time. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

It is a sharp reminder to be careful with candles this Christmas and always. They should never be left unattended.
